Those of us of a certain age will remember this man very well.
I guess this isn’t the time to let out with an exuberant “Surprise, surprise, surprise!”
or a hearty “well GOLLLLLL LEEEEEEE!!” either.
It used to bother me that they made such a big deal about how beautiful his singing voice was. Like, anyone who sounded like a Southern hick when speaking (especially when laying it on thick for a particular role) couldn’t possibly sing opera. Made it seem like they thought he was a performing bear or something.
When I was of pre-school age, Gomer Pyle USMC was my favorite mid-day rerun.
the thing is, he really DID have an amazing baritone.
