Y’know that thing about how Oz politics echoes the US with a slight delay?

They knew this was coming. They chose to do nothing to prevent it.

Reminder that Indigenous Australians are the most incarcerated people on Earth. Around twelve thousand Indigenous Australians are currently imprisoned; more than 2% of the total population.

Australian police actively select for sadism. The exceptions to this rule don’t stay in the job long.

The usual “justification” for poverty payments is that it is intended to be a spur to force the impoverished to somehow improve their lot.

This was sadistic classist bullshit even pre-pandemic, but now: how are unemployed people supposed to find work during lockdowns and recession?

If the rationale no longer applies, why do the rates remain so low? Survival for the marginalised became harder after Covid began, not easier.

I dunno about the folks there, but here we’re supposed to take whatever we can get and be grateful for it, no matter how bad the working conditions may be (I’m not talking about physically, but emotionally).

But then again, there’s a lot of people who actually believe that Christ said, “He who does not work does not eat”. Yeah, right.

The NSW Labor Right have decided to parachute their intensely white American liberal into a Western Sydney safe seat.

It’s a seat the ALP won by 17.5% at the last election, blue-ribbon safe. So the person that Keneally is really hoping to defeat in this contest is the other ALP candidate:

This is Scotland Island, which is notably nowhere near the heavily multiethnic working-class region that she is now hoping to represent:

But, to be fair, she doesn’t live there full time. She has other houses…which are also nowhere near the grubby peasants of Western Sydney.

AKA snitch.

And, regrettably, it is not at all “un-Australian”. Particularly when Tony Abbott is involved.
