A bit of hope that I cling to is the idea that however much gerrymandering Repub state legislatures manage, it might be outweighed by the rage in some red districts, rage that turns them blue.

That, and the fact that âcrackingâ blue districts runs a real risk of turning red ones purple, and in the current environment, that could flip them blue. That would be total poetic justice. Not gonna count on it, but the possibility is there.
