My mom has finally been convinced to sell her Florida home, and this is one of the biggest reasons. The insurance costs have gone up exponentially over the past 5 years and are unlikely to go down or even stop, considering FL government has done nothing to address cost of living or even public matters that help normal people. DeSantis has been (relatively) quiet since losing to Trump, but still continues to quietly strip away rights while trumpeting the “Florida has best schools in the nation” flag, which is based on one stat and not really the important one.

If you look at conservative sites, like their subreddit, this is exactly what they are claiming. It’s nutty.
Oh I know. Several Republican Congresscritters have said it.
I just went and looked at the subreddit for a few minutes. There’s only 2 threads on this topic, the majority are dealing with other normal conspiracy stuff they love so much. In one thread, there’s a lot of people saying how bad this is, and even if he knows what he’s doing, this feels bad. There’s a few people still cheering it on, often using the exact same words.
The second thread is almost entirely people saying that this will just be temporary pain for a few months or years after which America will be great again, or people saying they don’t understand how this will help, but they trust him.
Later tonight, I bet I know which thread will still be up.
I haven’t gone to that subreddit in a long time. I got banned years ago, something I’m quite proud of. But before Trump, there were some people there who weren’t entirely unreasonable. After the Trump subreddit got permabanned, though, all those people took over the conservative subreddit. Ever since, it’s just been MAGA brainwashed idiots.
It’s not unlikely that Trump will declare victory and remove them after the disaster really sinks in.
But it will already have damaged the country’s economy, currency and leadership worldwide. Taking years - maybe decades to recover from- if it’s possible.
And other countries won’t necessarily revoke their sanctions immediately if he does. I imagine some will want payback.
