Elon Musk Destroys Everything

, TopSpeed estimates that it will fall by 59.5% in five years, and a whopping 72.5% in 10.

Uhh, it’s around 55 now, what the hell is that analyst smoking that it’ll only drop another 5% in 4 years?

Lawsuit city, here they come.

Any bets on how long before the unfortunate citizens of that town go all Lord of the Flies?

I’m sure some bears will be by soonish… I hear they like libertarian towns!

Even worser: After they knew it wasn’t someone else’s fault, they decided to not learn a damn thing, and make things worse.

I’ve never dealt with rocket fuels or oxidizers, but I’ve worked with bulk cryogenic liquids. It’s a really basic understanding, like “water is wet”, that when you’re freshly loading a container with e.g. liquid oxygen, you keep people the fuck away. It’s really really hard to have a “small” mishap under these conditions. Reading the above and trying to fathom the depth of the stupidity and short-sightedness involved is quite an exercise.

I’m not sure I can come up with more than a very narrow set of cases where modifying or generating a realistic image of someone is acceptable, so I don’t really see a reason why this or any other AI should allow it, regardless of context.

The only situations I can think of would be parody and satire, and neither of them require a machine to generate them, nor need realistic output to be effective. I’m not philosophically opposed to AI image generators being used for satire or parody, but I’m also not clever enough to come up with a way that wouldn’t just create a make them naked as a parody loophole.

Also, it seems to me that if someone were to create a(an army) (of) bot(s) that automatically asks for undressed versions of images of Musk et al., then this problem would likely get more attention than it currently does.

We should never let this guy near the defense department.

There should really be a list of what he should never be allowed near (including toasters, rockets, his employees, his children, Texas, and so on)

I think most of the time the acceptable uses are the utterly boring ones: “take all our employees photos taken separately and give them consistent lighting, framing and CI-colored background” or something like that.

just wait until starlink runs all the air traffic in the u.s. and skunk disables O’Hare or SeaTac for whatever nazimuthafuckin reason his nazimuthafucker ass decides.

We need one that does this but also cross references the body generation with medical pics of skin disease.

For the science.

That’s a good point. I should have clarified that I meant the number of cases without the photographed person’s consent, on the open Internet. Employee photos would be a private data set and there’s at least some reasonable assumption of consent on the part of the employee when they have their picture taken or when they supply it.

You do raise another point, which is that there would be nothing to stop someone from stockpiling a private dataset of photos from the Internet that they can use with their own private AI for all sorts of nefarious purpose. I suspect the overlap between that group of people and the group of people who have been using image editing for those purposes over the years is nearly 100%, though.

I remember the marketing VP of our company running around and taking photos of the business and several us working. I explicitly asked him if it was going on the internet because I didn’t want my image out there. He told me no, and then he added it to the company fb page. I was so pissed and told him take it down since I didn’t give him permission to use my image. He took it down and I totally thought I’d get fired for making a stink, but I think he was worried that I’d sue since he lied to me about the photos.

Was it disabled or did it just break? Either seems a reasonable possibility

Do you have contingency plans in place for a Starship booster trying to make an unscheduled landing in your backyard?
