There was that discovery in a procurement listing that the state department was looking to buy $400M worth of armored “Tesla” vehicles, later amended to “electric.” (Because it’s a totally open and fair bidding system, wink wink!) So… yeah, unless the blowback from that premature exposure scared them away from doing it.
That or the honeymoon’s demise. Scuttlebutt rumblings suggest that Tramp is losing patience with Skum, the love having begun to fade when Skum failed to steal that Wisconsin state supreme court seat.
I so hope this is what is happening. The size of their egos is not compatible for them to continue sharing a stage and I expect the breakup will be epic. Tea will be spilt and the only stocks I’m buying at the moment are popcorn futures.
I’d very much like to think that there’s falling out, but the claim seems to be based on Musk leaving his role, and I also read that as a “special government employee” Musk could only work for a limited period of time, and this is just a way of bypassing legal requirements (and he’d still be doing the same work, albeit more quietly in some other role, officially). Since the administration keeps playing games about what Musk’s role is in the government, I suspect this is more likely what’s going on.
Musk being upset about the tariff situation but going after Navarro seems like he was trying to be careful not to even be seen as criticizing Trump, which makes me think the situation between them isn’t too dire, even if Trump is feeling disappointed in him.
There’s no one to root for here.
