My child is a Transformers superfan. (They run a Transformers Discord, amongst other things.)
They inform me that it is common knowledge that all transformers, in canon, are genderless but appear masc-coded to humans. Which means that any transformer who is femme-coded (such as, but not limited to the original femme-transformer, Arcee) made a deliberate choice to be so. (The history of the canon is … complicated and contradictory, and acknowledged to be so. Forty years of trying to back-fit biological metaphors and social commentary and “what does sex even mean for something which is a car half the time?” onto something which was in origin a cheap vehicle for selling toys.)
All femme-coded transformers, in current common understanding, are effectively trans.
This makes perfect sense. I’d go so far to assume that all transformers are identifying their gender based on non-genetic characteristics, what with presumably having no genetics to speak of. I welcome our large, robotic, trans transformer overbeings!
I saw that, looking for corroboration, but it is the same image again. The caption says there is a claim of beaming an image, as if no one actually witnessed it.
