In other news, the global increase of left-handedness also continues. It’s almost like people have a lot more variety in their existence when they aren’t beaten (or worse) for being who they are and are simply allowed to exist.

Here is how I edited this…Gonna post this!

As an American citizen (who is cisgendered), I strongly oppose these changes to replace “gender” with “sex” and to define sex as a binary rather than a spectrum. EO 14168 is fundamentally flawed and bigoted, as it flies in the face of our shared values of freedom, individualism, and a love of human rights for all. It also flies in the face of the scientific consensus on gender. Therefore, creating policy based on it is at odds with our values and with science itself.

Trans men and women, non-binary people, and intersex people deserve the right live out their lives free from discrimination and harassment, especially from the government. Limiting their right to have only one of two gender markers and forcing them to use the wrong gender marker is a form of oppression. We should always seek to make our country more welcoming and less oppressive for all.

Any right thinking, freedom loving Americans should oppose this attempted erasure of an entire group of people. If any of us are vulnerable to this kind of state-based discrimination, than all of us are vulnerable to it. Traveling abroad with the full protection of one’s government is and should be a human right. This change is fraught with a deep prejudice against the trans and non-binary community and intersex Americans. As such, as a patriotic American, I fully oppose these changes to our system of issuing passports.

Unsurprising, given it happened in front of a room full of people… Just FYI, the article describes the attack in detail…

I like it! Ithink I’m actually going to focus my comments on how useless it is to have the gender marker limited to what was assigned at birth. The entire purpose of having a gender marker is to aid in identification. If that gender marker is going to help identify a person, then it needs to be the gender that they are. Not the gender that they were assigned at birth. Putting down that a trans guy is female is not going to help identify that dude later. It is also going to aid in passport fraud.

Plus, it’s huge goddamn waste of taxpayer money. Even if it’s just a matter of having to compare different documents, that cost time. And a government employees time is taxpayer money

Edit: all done. I kept it simple because I’m sick and my brain hurts. I hope all these comments have some effect. It’s so dangerous and dehumanizing to refuse to recognize someone’s gender on their passport.

“In her remarks to the judge, Agnifilio said she was shocked that the NYPD chief of detectives and Mayor Adams were able to sit down with HBO and discuss evidence and their theories of the case for a documentary. The prosecutors have yet to turn over key evidence – including a journal they allege is his “manifesto” – that Adams at the NYPD official discussed on HBO, Agnifilio said.

“We have never been provided copies,” she said.”
