I don’t know the exact timeline of when the malfunctioning units were removed and how long it was taking to get them fixed, but things don’t always break down at convenient times and we don’t have any evidence that they weren’t trying to get them back in place ASAP. In the meantime they did have temporary mitigations in place. Obviously not the best possible mitigations but still probably better than what we’ve got at the local street fairs and Farmers Markets near where I live.
Whenever a tragic attack like this occurs there tends to be a lot of focus and speculation about whether things would have been different if the target had been better protected, and a certain amount of that is warrated. But this guy was willing to drive for hours to find a location where he could conduct a suicidal rampage to shoot and run down as many people as possible. Even if Bourbon street had been better protected he was almost certain to find somewhere with vulnerabilities.
Their schedule was to get them fixed before the Super Bowl next month. In the meantime, they had temporary barriers set up and police cars parked in the road. But according to the police, the guy just drove up on the sidewalk around them anyway.
It’s nice that they have roomy sidewalks, but I guess that means they’ll have to go back to the drawing board on blocking traffic. Maybe put in some more lampposts or something. From what I’ve seen there are a lot of lampposts and poles on the sidewalks there. Maybe they just set up the barrier in the one place that didn’t have them?
So the guy who blew up the Cybertruck sent messages saying it wasn’t intended as a terror attack but as a “wake up call.”
I have to admit, on some level he was right. I probably wouldn’t have even heard about (yet another) military vet tragically taking his own life if he hadn’t done so in such a dramatic fashion. Thankfully nobody else was killed or badly hurt.
What exactly it is that he wants us to “wake up to” is far less clear. Obviously it’s a reminder about all the vets out there who are suffering from PTSD but I’m not sure that was his intent.
In the headlines the latest news has only been that he warned of national decline and bore “no ill will toward Mr. Trump” in the words of one of the investigators. That gloss on Donald Trump is, shall we say, a bit of an understatement as you can see in these excerpts.
Military and vets move on DC starting now. Militias facilitate and augment this activity.
Occupy every major road along fed buildings and the campus of fed buildings by the hundreds of thousands.
Lock the highways around down with semis right after everybody gets in. Hold until the purge is complete.
Try peaceful means first, but be prepared to fight to get the Dems out of the fed government and military by any means necessary. They all must go and a hard reset must occur for our country to avoid collapse.
We must end the war in Ukraine with negotiated settlement. It is the only way.
Focus on strength and winning. Masculinity is good and men must be leaders. Strength is a deterrent and fear is the product.
Stop obsessing over diversity. We are all diverse and DEI is a cancer.
Thankfully we rejected the DEI candidate and will have a real President instead of Weekend at Bernie’s.
Consider this last sunset of ‘24 and my actions the end of our sickness and a new chapter of health for our people. Rally around the Trump, Musk, Kennedy, and ride this wave to the highest hegemony for all Americans! We are second to no one.
