Oh hey, didn’t Google used to have an Ethics in AI team devoted to this sort of problem?
I wonder what happened to them?
Huh. I’m sure that’s a coincidence.
In the name of efficiency.
This week’s free episode is all about William Rees Mogg and James Dale Davidson’s book “the sovereign individual,” which describes a wonderful world in which fifty rich men live in armoured citadels and everyone else scrapes a living off the land. Do not become addicted to water, my friends!
Yep Jacob Rees-Mogg’s dad was very very weird guy.
Jason Meyers founded ICERAID and is attempting to outsource immigration enforcement intelligence gathering to the public by encouraging them to upload photos of crime with token incentives utilizing Solana’s blockchain and Phantom wallet.

The essay [Yarvin’s] brims with false dichotomies, logical inconsistencies, half-baked metaphors, and allusions to genocide. It careens from Romanian tractor factories to Harvard being turned “into dust. Into quarks” with the coherence of a meth-addled squirrel.
It’s astounding to me that these violent, bigoted, cruel dipshits keep getting hailed as fucking genius visionaries that we should all take seriously - especially outside of their fields. Someone doing something with computers does not fucking mean they are good–not just GOOD, but fucking GENIUS–at literally everything else. Sure, there are tons of interesting and complicated problems within the field that demands a sharp mind. So do other fields of labor… pretty much any more field of knowledge and labor is going to have it’s own kind of complicated systems that demands life-long study… Being good in one place does not mean you’re good at something else. It literally just means you’re good at the thing.
Yarvin and his shitty ilk believes and markets himself as philosophical visionary. Fuck that noise. He’s a bigoted, classist, cruel piece of shit that no one should listen to on anything… we already tried fascism. It did not do shit to deliver anything to anyone other than mass death. Fascism is nothing more than a fucking death cult and everything ends up bending towards that. The fact that Yarvin doesn’t understand or care about that reality speaks volumes.
Has this guy even been a huge success in his field? It doesn’t look like it.
Edit:
It looks like his professional product is a message board.
Dark Enlightenment guru sees his desired revolution unraveling under the weight of its own stupidity
Well, that sounds good. As long as the unraveling doesn’t do too much damage as it unravels. I suppose though that the damage will take many years to repair, if repair is even possible. Good thing I know a few things about growing some of my own food.
First , the government needs to be run top-down from the Oval Office. This is why we call it the “executive” branch. “Executive” is a literal synonym of “monarchical”—from “mono,” meaning “one,” and “archy,” meaning “regime.” “Autocratic” is fine too. The “executive branch” is the “autocratic branch,” or should be if English is English. Libs: if these words don’t mean what they mean, what do they mean?
The fuck garbled bs is that?
Executive isn’t a synonym of monarchical unless you believe that somehow “exe” means one and “cutive” means regime (to use his own unscientific terminology). This is cargo cult etymology.
The “executive branch” is the “autocratic branch
Yeah? Because you can only execute something you have decided yourself? So why are soldiers expected to execute others’ orders? Really, an army should only consist of generals, in Yarvin’s world
Libs: if these words don’t mean what they mean, what do they mean?
The fucking irony!
No, it’s actually a garbled translation of Echse because lizard people.
Don’t other industries use cooling towers to recirculate that water?
And it sounds like a lot of waste energy that could possibly be harvested.
And, just limit AI to necessary applications.
Yep, but it seems like Tech, as an industry, has no interesting in how other fields have solved problems, and would rather just “innovate” on their own terms - meaning waste all the resources, because THEY ARE THE MOST IMPORTANT INDUSTRY EVER IN THE HISTORY OF INDUSTRY…
Or, just… not have it at all. I’m okay with that.
What? No magic machine that spits out dubious answers a little faster than the ones you can get from just looking it up with what’s rapidly becoming the old way of looking things up? /s
I know that’s not the only “use” for AI, but it really does seem like the main point is just to (some day) make those who own and control it tons of cash.
I hear about workers here and there finding ways to do various tasks quicker with it, but that seems destined to mean that workers will eventually just be expected to do more work than they were before. All while worrying, in many cases, whether they’ll completely lose their jobs to AI.
I too do not welcome our AI-wielding overlords.
