So, serious question: how long of support did they provide? We replaced a “dumb” thermostat about six years ago that had lasted about 13 years. Not a fantastic amount of time, but nearly the warranty life (15 years) of the heat pump it came with.
As long as owners can still control it once support ends, I’d chalk it up as a draw. (Of course, lack of security support is a problem, but that is always the problem with the IoS.).
Eta: I read the article. Depending on the model, support was provided for up to 14 years (first gen) or up to 10 years (2nd gen) and will still “work” after support ends, though no learning features. So, on the whole, middling to crappy support. Totally on par with Gurgle.
