Well, my endless procrastinating in getting a Protonmail account has finally paid off, I guess. Though being on Gmail hasn’t ceased to be a problem.
ETA: Anyone else bothered by how no combination of values, stakes, education or past virtues seem to be enough to keep previously respectable people and organizations from absolutely losing their minds and going full MAGA? What’s next, Ben & Jerry’s releasing a flavor celebrating Trump, with little chocolate swastika pieces?
On the subject of TikTok — how is it being banned? Isn’t it still available internationally? Can a website be used or do you need the app?
On the subject of Proton — WTF!? I just started trying their VPL this week. Now I have to think about that.
It won’t be available in US app stores and I read that unless the ban is lifted, TikTok will be shutting off the app in the US. I assume a VPN would work on the website, but 
I literally got a proton account yesterday, intending to finally switch my main email address. Well, fuck
I have been waiting for the news about the layoffs to be made public so I can talk about it.

Yeah my partner has definitely noticed some trends in who is probably going to be on the chopping block.
Actually I don’t even know what I want to say, it’s just been an awful week. It’s been a new awful thing almost every morning. I’ve been wanting them to get out of there for a while already but now it’s dire.

Some robots are very nice.
True. The problem with Zuckerberg isn’t that he’s a robot. It’s that he’s a human with all of the compassion and empathy of a machine. Evil robots were never the scary ones in sci fi. Robots that had a clear view of humanity’s capacity for evil were the scary ones.
It would be nice if we didn’t need to rely on billionaires for our this.
