A Microsoft employee wrote on Blind that a friend from Meta was told to “find someone” to let go even though everyone was performing at or above expectations. “All of these layoffs this year are payback for 2021–2022,” they wrote. “Execs were terrified of the power workers had [at] that time and saw the offers and pay at that time [are] unsustainable. Best way to stop that is put the fear of god back in the workers.
Billionaire Airbnb Co-Founder Is Said to Take Role in Musk’s Government Initiative
I imagine that no matter how much Zuck bulks up and macho-fies himself, his employees will never be able to think of him as God.
Well that sucks. Have always used this in order to remove the DRM from the books I’ve bought.
I’m sure a work around will be figured out, but still a good reminder to avoid the Bezos ecosystem as much as possible.
Joe Gebbia, the co-founder of Airbnb and a close friend of Elon Musk, is said to be joining the Department of Government Efficiency team…
Okay. I now understand all the “couch surfing” that Leon has done for the last 6-8 years. He just Air BNBed it and Gebbia paid for it. All these freebies that billionaires take should be taxable. My guess is Gebbia’s company writes it off and Leon never declares the compensation.

That’s the worst thing. I have no idea what I wrote that got me a time-out. Do they want me to behave? How do they want me to learn if they will not tell me what I did wrong? The vagueness of the reason is part of the punishment I suppose. Very Kafkaesque.
I would love to know who I offended and how I did it.
Kafka is too often left out of the lists of authors who wrote descriptions of fascism.
Somehow I suspect “What idiot put those chairs on the basketball court?” isn’t the reaction they were hoping to get, but that was literally my first thought when I watched the ad…
