I should ask about this. I got a letter recently about how I should get a new mammogram, although I thought the new recommendation was every couple of years rather than every year, if you’re not in the high risk group, which I’m… not? The instances of breast cancer are on the paternal side of my fam, not the maternal.
I have dense breasts; so I may be seeing this in my future.
No breast cancer in the immediate family. But other cancers.
Yeah, me too on both counts. My dad had lung cancer, for example.
Pancreatic. Mom and a brother. A few other things.
Same, and I also have multiple family members who had breast and other cancers. Still, I need to take a second look at this contrast issue first.
The recommendation for yearly mammograms depends on both age and whether one is considered high risk or not.
I’m on the yearly plan due to age, dense breasts, cysts, and relatives on both paternal and maternal side with weird cancers (but not breast cancer). Also an ultrasound every other year. I’m not sure if the contrast enhanced mammogram is something I will push for, should it become available, though.
I did not know first-gen antihistamines and some OTC sleep aides are associated with an increase in dementia when used long term.
Relatively recent finding, bit yeah, minimizing medication as best we can is always a good idea. The hard truth is that bodies are always more complicated and intetconnected than we give credit for, and even older meds can surprise us.
I’d dare say some of the older meds contain more surprises, because they were approved in a time where the standards for studies and side effects were much looser and never got another look. How old was Benadryl when we finally figured out it suppresses respiratory function in kids?
It makes me upset we in the US are returning to a time of less regulation in medicine
Lacks creative alternatives to food and other ways to insert nutrients into the body. Solar light works fine for my ferns.
Out of despair, people will try anything that has an inch of hope to save their lives. People who push magic cures and snake oil deserves the last circle of Hell. Poor Mr. Adams. I give you my solidarity.

Conflicted about this. Adams is part of the problem that led to the right-wing hellscape that is currently the USA.
Cancer is not a parasite, yo!
(I have a relative who conducted a COVID treatment study of ivermectin vs. standard therapies during residency. The results were, wierdly, worse outcomes (statistically higher death rate), but quicker recovery time (by 2-3 days) for survivors.)
Adams is an arrogant asshole who isn’t nearly as smart as he thinks he is, but he doesn’t deserve this.
(Of course, that would be socialism! Can’t have the less-thans getting meds for free, it will make them not work!)
