A long and sad read. Why canât the US have clear paths to legal immigration? Why is it so important to keep these people out of our country that the authorities, particularly TX Gov Abbott and border patrol, engage in tactics that only cause more death? And these tactics are extremely expensive too! Why canât that money go to immigration support to help people come in legally and find a job and place to live? Maybe focus some of that money on better housing for everyone.
Iâm also afraid for the Texas national guard stationed on the border. Thereâs been a lot of coverage about how badly they have been treated and how the constant deployments are destroying moral and retainment/recruitment. I wonder, what is happening to their minds? How many murderers are being made by encouraging and normalizing violence again migrants? How much emotional and mental damage are they experiencing?
I feel sick.

Later, they mailed the passport to the Salvadoran consulate and reported the body to the Doña Ana County Sheriffâs Office in New Mexico â even though the sheriff sometimes doesnât respond and has accused volunteers of planting bones in the desert.
Even if they are âplanting bones in the desert,â would it not be police procedure to recover them and figure who they killed to get them? That was an extraordinarily hard read, and makes me even more infuriated about the dehumanization of folks who are not-straight-white-men. God, what a mess we are in!
