I really hate this rhetoric. I know that it makes sense to stress this because it outrages maybe even those on the other side of the political spectrum and because US citizens tend to have connections and social capital to actually stand up for their rights but it masks the fact that everyone in the US has constitutional rights, citizen or not. It’s really dangerous if people start to forget that.
