Maybe. The other possibility is that these were not actual ICE, but some other illegal gang using ICE as cover for kidnapping and trafficking operations.
The practical difference between actual ICE in its normal operations, and a criminal gang involved in kidnapping and human trafficking, is as near to zero as makes no difference.
It occurred to me that an enterprising kidnapping gang could not just operate in plain view by pretending to be ICE, but if they figured out the protocol for ICE to request police backup (and I suspect itās pretty informal), they not only could avoid any possibility of arrest but actually get the cops to help them kidnap people (because the cops in those situations ask no questions nor check ICE IDs, etc.). And who knows how long they could operate before anyone realized they werenāt actually ICE - or if anyone ever wouldā¦
I had two competing ideas; two ICE teams show up to detain the same person. Hijinks ensue.
OR, people posing as ICE show up to rescue the person, and get them to safety.
Thanks! I always forget that this thread exists!
This is a great video, but I canāt for my life figure out why FutureCanoe is tagged on itā¦
Is futurecanoe maybe the original poster?
FutureCanoe is a food video maker. Iāve only seen his YouTube stuff but it seems to be 100% cooking-related. Granted I donāt know what shows up on his TikTok or Instagram, this would be a pretty big divergence. (The people in the video are definitely not FutureCanoe.)
How odd.
There are a couple of other FutureCanoe tiktoks on refusing to interact with border patrol, but I donāt know if itās actually him or not. The name is allennddghy and seems to have the same logo as FutureCanoeās
Very interesting, especially in that heās using FutureCanoeās actual logo. Gotta get those follows however you can, I guess. (And more power to him, for what itās worth.)
(Looks like the ārealā FutureCanoe is @futurecanoe82 on TikTok.)
