Ah, brown.
The bastards are fucking orcs.
Thatâs nice and all. But why focus on US citizens? Last I checked, the protections in the US constitution applied to anyone in the US, not just citizens
Thatâs the thing. The argument the Trump administration is making is that the protections of the Constitution donât apply to non citizens.
They are literally arguing exactly that in court, up to and including the Supreme Court.
So, If You are a tourist in the USA, donât expect the same level of protection of a local.
Thatâs their argument. Theyâre saying that the laws that prevent a tourist from say, robbing a bank, still apply. But the laws that prevent the police from doing terrible things donât apply.
Itâs one of the more glaring examples of âbound by the law, but not protected by the lawâ.
I can imagine some level of confusion next year as the US will host the World Cup with México and Canadå.
If in the first six months of this year alone we have seen cases of tourists being wrongfully detained and immigrants with legal status being deported, imagine the âinvasionâ of football fans from all over the world.
That makes it even more important for military personnel to refuse unlawful orders when it comes to the treatment of non-citizens.
I presume it will be a situation like Germany with the 1936 Olympics. The SS (oops, ICE) will be told to pause and put on a happy face for the duration. Then theyâll return to their former activities with gusto at the conclusion of the event.
Bravo !!!
What a great reason to no longer snicker when Glendale is mentioned!
âInvasionâ has turned from political agitprop into legal pretext.
This thread on people carrying out authoritarian orders could be expanded now to forces beyond ICE. One question has been whether theyâll follow orders as enthusiastically as ICE has. So far, theyâre often being treated in ways that discourage that.
You donât fuck with the folks who are making your food, man. Thatâs just common sense.
