"If this isn't nice..." A space for happy moments

Anyone watch the spin-off program Find, with the two twin brothers?

The one moment I treasure from that is where they are looking at a man’s etchings (I think, some kind of artwork on paper). The etchings are stacked on the floor, and when they’re saying their farewells, one of the brothers steps forward to shake hands and steps directly on them. You can see the other brother notice this, but the owner doesn’t, at least not right away. They immediately cut away from the scene.

Two weeks ago I bought a bread saw. Today I finally got a chance to use it.

No more sliced bread for me!

What will you do with the saw? Bread sculpture?

same here. i was thinking, “no more sliced bread for you? what, it’s all breadCRUMBS from here on out? does it carve loaves down into fluffy piles or something?” hahaha

I was a bit mystified by merriment.

Apparently some people call this a “bread knife.” I cannot imagine why.

This is a serious tool for serious loaves.
Right now I’m savoring a fine loaf of pumpernickel bread.
Pumpernickel + bead saw = happiness

It’s just funny. I’ve never heard them called anything else.

Part of my job entails approving (or denying) change requests that either involve my reports or involve my technical areas.

If you deny, you have to put in comments in the Deny Comments field.

If you approve, you don’t have to put any comments, but I generally put something silly but related. Typically rewriting song lyrics to fit the particular change.

I’ve done this for months, maybe over a year now. and no one ever says anything because these aren’t fields that ever come up in the Change meeting.

I found out today that the person over the Change Control looks forward to reading my comments.

So I have that going for me today.

I don’t get many migraines, but when I do the first sign is that the regular floaters in my eyes get big, dark and obnoxious. I’m not sure how else to describe it.

Anyway, today, I had weird dark spots moving in front of my eyes, or maybe one dark spot that kept moving back and forth. I worried I was about to get a migraine, and took off my glasses feeling a bit defeated.

Lo, and behold, there was an ant on my glasses, just walking around, having a grand old time. So, yay! no migraine for me today! but it didn’t end well for the ant. (very small crunching sound and a whiff of dead ant smell)

It’s like I say —
never feel bad about stepping on an ant, they don’t feel bad about stepping on you.

I’m sorry but I laughed out loud at that. What a neat story! And I’m glad it had a happy ending. (For you, that is–not the ant.)

It was pretty funny, in the end
