i used to dislike Rgb lights but for some reason I now enjoy having a rainbow in my keyboard. Don’t know why it can be.
No. I really don’t know why it can be.

It’s too distracting for me. I don’t mind if that’s on someone else’s setup but for personal use i’d rather not have it.
Anyway here’s my spare keyboard.
Keychron K2 Non-Backlight Wireless Mechanical Keyboard - Non-Backlight Aluminum Frame / Keychron Mechanical / Brown Switches
It’s a mix of the default keys with some custom ones. Purchased for $65.20 + $10 for shipping and later i got the travel case for it (too lazy to look up the cost). I quite like it with the exception that it doesn’t have the number pad.
Also on my Logitech keyboard I have these custom keys. The brass question block is my prized possession
Forgive the dusty as hell keys
I love them!
My one use of RGB on a keyboard: I have static color blocks set for the different types of keys - one for the numpad, one for arrows/home/end/etc, one for the main “keyboard” section… makes it easier to orient in the dark or without fully looking at the keyboard.
I know someone who has it set to do rainbow swirls whenever a key is pressed… would drive me absolutely nuts.
Looks like I picked the wrong day to quit eating plastic.
I picked the wrong day to be spanish. I want toasted bread ISO-SP layout!
I want to say that i posted about this in TOP, not that it matters as i am glad to see it here too the keys are terribly cute and if i recall the cost of the keys wasn’t too bad.
yep, I think it was in a post-thread about keyboards. But still relevant, and still want them…
Ridiculous that they are selling this in 2025 without USB-C
This is brilliant, thanks for digging it up!
I should
a) look into Molly Sole’s work; the melted keyboards are inspired
b) finally go and visit my sister and BIL; they moved near Norwich just before the covid calamity and travel plans had to be shelved.
Not melted, but a chinese company released ceramic keycaps. ANSI only, because of course.
They look quite amazing:
And apparently they sound quite good. The ceramic dampens a lot of the high tones, leaving a deeper sound. Yeah, weird that we start thinking about our keyboards sound but… it is what it is
Ceramic keys would be pretty interesting , i also saw some maker youtubers i follow make wood keycaps and that also looked great. Could’ve been cleaner and would prefer them to be regular keys instead of low profile ones but i still liked their attempt at it.
I’m a big weirdo, then. I like the light clicking sound of my current keyboard’s blue switches, but sometimes I miss the chonky thocks of my old one.
Here’s an old review from when they were on Kickstarter:
This channel has a lot of keyboard content. He has an energy, so fair warning.
In another bar I frequent they also did a “post your keyboard” thing, and I was impressed by this piecebuilt battlestation:
That’s… OMG. And I though the Hyper7 was big:
