Something to play for that special someone on Valentine’s Day.
Tonight’s jam brought to you courtesy of The Fish Fry.
It makes me want to holler, and throw up both my hands.
Wow.
That was very nice.
One of my favorite things in the whole wide world is when jam bands bring horn sections on tour.
And to think I almost didn’t listen to it because I’d never heard of Snarky Puppy and was thinking instead of Skinny Puppy.
Yeah, not Skinny Puppy: jazz, very jazz (or jazz-funk, perhaps).
Edit: Here’s an analysis of Cory Henry’s solo by David Bruce:
very jazz, very nice.
I’m a bit of a jazz dilettante; I enjoy the music, and I know what I like (or maybe I just like what I like), but I’m not particularly well-versed in the history or the current scene.
These guys kind of remind me a bit of Groove Collective, albeit a little more jazzy and a little less funky.
ETA: just watched the video you added. That was one of those experiences where I recognized the words but still didn’t quite get the meaning. I played an instrument when I was younger and had a bit of music theory when I was in high school, so all of that looked familiar, but most of it was over my head.
Even so, I could sort of feel some of what they were talking about, despite not really understanding the technical aspects of the music. Although, honestly, you kind of had me at “four year old child prodigy on the Hammond B3 organ.”
Yeah, he was a cute kid with serious talent.
They remind me of Dudez Aplenti.
Interesting stuff from the USSR:
… I need to re-watch The Wire at some point.
Remains true even as you rewatch it.
You just need more BB of A.
This dude was when I discovered that Kermit T. Frog was not just a made-up-for-a-muppet name.
Also, he’s a freaking musical genius. I really do love a horn section in live music (and otherwise).
I’ve seen him play live in New Orleans. It was amazing!
Nice, well-written, well-played arrangement:
I haven’t really liked the EDM that I’ve heard in various places, but then I didn’t know that electro swing even existed. I am converted, in this case.
Bah! That sounded nothing like Huey Lewis!
