I donā€™t know which is better, the music or the dancing.

Sweet Charity! I think I may have spotted Ben Vereen, but Iā€™m not certain. Heā€™s definitely elsewhere in the film, but Iā€™m not certain about this number.

Is this video part of a longer piece?

The footage comes from the feature length Sweet Charity made in 1969. The music is more recent, of course.

I would not have guessed. Some of the moves look so modern (like moving the head back & forth and side to side without angling the head.

ETA: from the description:

Here Italian native Fab Samperi justified his place in the series with a killer cut, The Big Swing (2016). This video includes extracts from the wonderful choreography of Bob Fosse (most famous for directing Cabaret) and his film Sweet Charity.

Extracts? So is it a mix of the new and the old?

To me, it all looked like it came from Sweet Charity.

Hereā€™s the original number:

And an article about it:

Wow, thatā€™s FABULOUS! Thanks for posting this and answering all my questions. In context I can see the dance moves that are very late sixtyish.

While weā€™re doing Fosse, might as well throw in this, the closing number of All That Jazz, a film I remember as being still considered a big deal when I was young, but I think itā€™s been eclipsed by Cabaret these days.

In context, I think this is a great number, although I admit that if you havenā€™t seen the whole film and therefore have no reason to care about Scheiderā€™s character (and havenā€™t gotten accustomed to the overwhelming ā€˜70sness of it all) one might find more than a few nits to pick.

This spoils the movie, of course:

I feel like I got a contact buzz watching/listening to that.

First time Iā€™ve seen and heard this, and itā€™s a pretty remarkable crossover tribute/cover: Mongolian Metallica

Twice over the last year Iā€™ve woken up with this going through my head, but the only lyric I could recall is ā€œknow where to goā€¦ā€ which out of context I heard as ā€œnowhere to goā€ which meant I couldnā€™t google it to find out what it was. After the second time, I figured it out.

What happens when you mix Metallica with Bluegrass?

Specifically, Man of Constant Sorrow with Harvester of Sorrow:

The result is neither and both and just weird.
