It’s amazing how much those in power have framed how we see the business world.
We say:
Cost-cutting, instead of profit boosting.
Employers as job creators, instead of Labor as business builders.
Maximized shareholder value, instead of poverty wages.
Advancement opportunities, instead of Dangling a carrot.
High-paced environment, instead of Doing the jobs of three people.
Right to Work, instead of Union busting.
The customer is always right, instead of We never back up our employees.

This reminds me somewhat of why Wavy Gravy chose to dress as a clown, because after so many times the police had beaten and arrested him, he felt if all that continued while he wore a clown costume, such an image would have an impact on public opinion.

The customer is an annoying necessity, and the best ones are the new ones who haven’t yet realized that the product is shit and not guaranteed in any useful way.
Yeah. I was thinking the other day that the modern “CEO mentality” is not just cutthroat against competition, but against everybody - customers, employees, the public, the environment - and they see it as righteous. It’s disgusting. It’s like the most cartoonish depiction of the gluttonous villain, taken to an extreme, but it’s normalized in American society.
