Yep. Academics (especially in the humanities) do indeed tend to write that others or they themselves “argue” that this or that is true. I guess the idea is that there’s no reason to center your um, argument, around something that merely calls for pointing it out.

Our galaxy contains hundreds billions of stars that are not making any billionaires money and so have no reason to exist. Just have to get the employees to sleep less and construction should be about five years away. Once it’s as smart as a human ChatGPT can fill in the details.
