Like Tesla stock, it’s still seriously overvalued at that price.
Avionics technicians may be disappointed that the new aircraft don’t have an ethanol-cooled radar. No more getting drunk after draining the radar post-flight
I’ve owned 3 Subarus over the past 15 years and they have definitely been a mixed bag for reliability. My WRX in particular had a ton of issues (and I never even tracked it or anything) but I also blame it being the first MY of that generation.
Pro tip: avoid buying the first MY of a vehicle generation unless you have a high tolerance for being a beta tester. If you do, make sure you spring for the extended warranty. I had a suspension issue early on that required someone from corporate to fly out to Seattle to look at it, and it eventually led to a TSB being created.
I don’t drive a Subaru anymore, but that’s more because it was time to replace my vehicle, and Subaru’s current lineup just doesn’t appeal to me. In the past, the staid grocery getters were always balanced out with a few sporty (or sportier) models (that weren’t simply sporty appearance packages). These days it’s the WRX or nothing. (Gone is the Forester XT, and STI.)
In particular, I like sporty AWD cars, but I’m not a fan of the current WRX. I’m sure it drives wonderfully, but I really don’t like the styling or interior, and I especially dislike Subaru’s current touch screen system. I’ve used it a lot in the various loaner cars I’ve had over the years and it sucks. Other Subaru models don’t appeal to me at all as they aren’t particularly fun or exciting. Yes, they all drive great, but they are just so meh.
When I was car shopping, I found that it actually incredibly difficult these days to find sporty AWD cars. Most automakers these days are going all in on SUVs, and the majority of those that do make AWD cars don’t offer anything remotely exciting. I looked at pretty much every automaker. It was not like this a few years ago.
There’s a reason I’ve held onto my turbo Legacy for so many years. They just don’t make them like that. In order to get similar performance in an AWD sedan package I’d pay a lot more for an Audi or high end Lexus. Out of my price range.
FWIW, I’ve got a 2015 Crosstrek (OK, XV Crosstrek) that never had any serious issues (i.e. big & unexpected) until this year.
Our first Subaru was a Legacy with the 3.6L H-6 engine. It was lovely. It was incredibly comfortable. Almost zero problems. It wasn’t the fastest car in the world, but with all of the low end grunt of the 6 cylinder engine it felt fast. Never underestimate the butt dyno. We only traded it in for a Forester XT (which shares an engine with the WRX) because we needed something with more cargo capacity. It’s has also been relatively trouble free but not without some challenges.
Yes, this is what I found too. I feel like it was just a few years ago that this segment was overflowing with choices. Not so much these days. Everybody wants SUVs. Sigh.
I actually like the Crosstrek. Why Subaru never did an option to have a turbo engine is a mystery to me. Especially since Subaru stopped making the WRX hatchback variant. Then again they also refuse to bring the Levorg to America. Subaru is just weird like that, I guess.
Oh, I love my Crosstrek. It’s just parked for now, waiting for the mechanic (Subaru specialist), who’s booked for another 2 weeks (the place I go for ordinary work won’t deal with the current problem).
One of the 2 big problems it had this year was the cam sprockets going bad. The other was oil (or possibly CVT fluid) showing up in the coolant (hoping it’s not the head gasket[s], which probably won’t be worth the co$t of repair, but IIRC it’s less likely on this car). The mechanic dealt with the 1st prob. but had to leave for a family emergency before he could look at the 2nd.
I kept driving it in the meantime, then 3 mos. later the oil/fluid in the coolant finally caught up with me when the top radiator hose split open. I dealt with that then & there (not a bad one to have to deal with, as “field repairs” go*) but I don’t want to keep driving it to find out which other hoses have disintegrated…
*I had to replace a top hose on our '81 Audi when I was 17. This was back when many 7-11 stores had an adjacent Chief Auto Parts next door, so it wasn’t hard to go find a new part. That was the 1st of 2 times that summer that I had to go to a Chief during a “field repair,” the other was for a bad thermostat on my '71 Vega.
P.S. had to look that up…

Makes you wonder what they’ll name after junior, doesn’t it.
Nope. Garbage trucks are useful, and a force for good. He’s more of a DUI-piloted bro-dozer.
No knock against oilers, which provide essential logistics support, but Tubman (who already had a liberty ship named after her in WW2) deserves to have her name attached to a truely badass ship. Among her many, many heroic deeds she helped lead Union forces in an amphibious assault on Confederate forces at the Raid on Combahee Ferry. So how about something that pays tribute to that, like an amphibious assault ship?
