Musk to Trump: “Stop them!”

To be fair… I don’t know how proud people should be of being founded by a guy who used to throw in a copy of the Protocols of the Elders of Zion with each new purchase…

@MerelyGifted - I had made a nice reply to your comment regarding charging EVs around Detroit, but my phone decided to not let me post it.

There are swasticar charge stations at a lot of Meijer stores, but many more ChargePoint stations all over the place, particularly at municipal parking lots.

The bit of experimental charging road is in Corktown on Michigan Ave, right in front of what had been Tiger Stadium.

My current daily driver is a plug-in hybrid. I turn the batteries off for highway travel, but use full electric for city driving. I have no idea what my “mileage” is. :woman_shrugging:

Turning a Navy carrier isn’t enough to cause a jet to fall into the sea, US defense official says

A flying boat that is almost, but not quite, entirely unlike an ekranoplane. Or the other way round.
They want to use ground effects. Which means skimming low above the surface. They also want to be able to avoid heavy sea states with big waves. Which means pulling up. Which will stop the ground effect at some point. Which is why they want to go for a hybrid design that is still capable of operating like a traditional flying boat, if required, at altitudes up to 10,000 feet mean sea level. Which would have been a respectable cruising height for a 1930ies… flying boat.
If this actually goes anywhere it will result in a hybrid alright, ground effect vehicle and aircraft, but one that’s bad in both roles.

You’ve got me thinking now how awesome it would be to stack a Mayo-Mercury Composite on top of that thing. Pretty sure it would have enough lift capacity.

Well then obviously what it needs is a balloon that can be deployed from a bay at the top, to turn it into a dirigible when necessary.

I thought that the whole “our plane fell off because we had to take evasive maneuvers against oncoming Houthi missiles!” explanation sounded like total bullshit, and apparently it was. Not exactly a surprise, but having a freakin’ aircraft carrier maneuver in at attempt to evade a missile just isn’t a thing:

That’s some impressive engineering. On the other hand, whenever I hear about this kind of thing I think back to James May’s many rants about Nurburgring testing and how it makes for terrible vehicles:

Also, $350k for a Mustang that will likely only ever live in some rich dude’s air conditioned garage?

Just having an aircraft carrier “maneuver” isn’t really a thing. Also, it’s not like they don’t strap down aircraft when they aren’t in use so how one “falls off” is a mystery to me.

Apparently it was being pulled by a tractor at the time.
