Not so sure these vehicles are things of the past. A few blocks from me, someone has a Hummer converted into a limousine. I don’t know if or how it manages to round any corners.
But as far as the “taxi bus” concept goes, I like the design of the Freeman Intercity Commuter, but for the minor details that:
It doesn’t have so many doors as these other examples, &
It does not seem to have actually existed except as one of my favorite Matchbox cars
P.S. Remember when they actually came in a paper box, like this? Maybe that was just the one store where we bought them - everywhere else had them in card-backed blister packs(?) like one would find today.
Many years ago, I was with a gf from Oxford, whose dad worked at Austin Rover/British Leyland/Whatever it was called that week. Her parents lived on a nice estate of v. middle class 50s semi detached mock Tudor houses, with a bunch of other AR bods for neighbours. One of whom had a mini Marcos that they’d done a mid-engine conversion on. Full on mini drivetrain behind the front seats with a tube chassis/cage holding the whole thing together. It was impressive and terrifying looking.
“Emissions testing will also be repealed by Sept. 31, although the New Hampshire Department of Environmental Services is allowed to get a waiver from the Environmental Protection Agency that can remove it sooner. Sources tell News 9 the process to get that waiver approved is happening “quickly.””
No inspections, no emissions tests, no seat belts and no motorcycle helmets. Tourists- Do not drive in New Hampshire. They’re assholes.
The most telling question remains: If Tesla’s system is truly “fully autonomous” as claimed in this video, why do its commercial robotaxis still require a human supervisor?

I knew about Rotel but I had no idea they were still around.
A late colleague of mine took a trips with them in the late 1970ies and early 1980ies and had some spectacular photos to show for it.
