(Blurring in case anyone wishes to watch the film.)

That dentist reminds me of Mary Smith, a character in one of Mike Leigh’s films, Another Year. Mary always seemed depressed and lonely. I vaguely recall that she intimated that her life would be different – better – if she bought a new car for herself. It didn’t work. Leigh’s voice-over comments during the film seemed to point to Mary’s inability to connect with people (perhaps lack of social skills?). Leigh left it there for viewers to ponder.

She’s a nice lady who deserves better roads!

They’re nice people, and they also deserve better roads!

“The straw that broke the camel’s back”, so to speak… which will eventually be replaced with "“The steel ball that busted the Cybertruck’s window”.
