Neurodiversity in all its glory

When I was a kid, my nose was always inside a book. My parents had to yell my name to get my attention. If I was that age now, it’d be a screen. Correlation isn’t causation yadda yadda…

Put a “u” between the “A” and “D” and I feel seen.

As a humanitarian, I really can’t recommend it.

Being a Genius™ would be much worse, tho.

That is a truly brilliant discussion of ADHD, and condemnation of the educational system.
Bonus: “Gifted is just neurodivergent in a different way.”

Clouds and boxes, again.

I found that article so insightful; she knows her stuff and pulled no punches. I love it. I really felt she got to the core of what ails us, collectively, if not entirely to a viable solution. I think the forces of disinformation, reinforced by the phenomena she identifies, are working with a tool kit with more intrinsic, emotional effectiveness; the tactical nuke that works against every neurotypical brain.

I think I’ll take some time for the publications at the Social Brain Lab she leads.

FTA: There should be an almost a moral value, which would be above our partisan interests, which is honesty.

:exploding_head: Cue the consistent moral compass of the ASD neurodivergent population in 3… 2… 1…

Maybe it’s time to put the “morally inflexible” in charge of some of this stuff.

Yeah, the harassment there led me to stop logging in, and stop trying to contribute.

Wow. A lot to chew on there. From the article…

We consume disinformation because we want to reaffirm our belonging

Did Hannah Arendt say something about how to believe in a conspiracy, you first need to be lonely? I can’t find the quote.

I don’t know this quote, but I see that many followers of these fantasies like to congregate with others who share their beliefs.

It’s almost like a psyop. But I have to be careful not to see conspiracies all over the world too

I liked Anne Appelbaum’s analysis in her book “Autocracy Inc.” “Conspiracy” per se? No. Opportunistic co-operation using similar techniques from a position of wealth and power? For sure.

The Neuro-Nuke™ toolkit? I think that’s more or less just tools of the trade. Not terribly effective on an individual basis, I’m sure, but with thousands of repetitions daily to an audience of millions it probably gets enough results.

I don’t know how much of this is good information, so y’all tell me!
