Right now, I really don’t care what anyone who isn’t at the same level* of risk that I am from this incoming wave of fascism thinks… especially if they are speaking from a position of higher societal privilege.
I’m busy gathering up my wits, whatever resources I can, and forming plans for bugging out if shit gets as bad as we Others fear it very well could.
So if you’re not a “minority,” if you’re not a woman, if you’re not Indigenous or BIPOC, if you’re not Trans or LGBTQA+, if you’re not elderly or disabled, if you’re not poor or “working poor”…
Seriously, fuck whatever you think, right now.
Your opinion won’t save me… or any one else.
That is all.
*At the same threat level, or even worse.
Unlike some folks, I don’t think the existential problems that affect me directly are the only ones that exist or matter.
I’m so tired of me and people I care about being told “it’s not so bad” by people for whom it isn’t so bad… meanwhile my community is freaking out trying to secure vital health care, relocate to safer places or make plans for how to exist in places that aren’t safe, and generally trying to figure out how to survive what’s coming.
The course the US (and the world, unfortunately) is on WILL lead to a lot of people dying unnecessarily. It already has. I know of at least one person who chose to exit existence rather than try and endure, and my social media feeds are full of friends, real living people, who are struggling with seriously dark ideation. I know I will permanently lose people I fucking care about if even half of what they’ve planned comes to pass.
So if you’re unaffected by this, and feel like offering trite advice or platitudes or whatever… please, can it. Either get in the trenches with us or get the hell out of the way.
It makes me feel like they married Gaston, which good for them I guess, a lot of the women in town apparently wanted to but he’s kind of the villain though.
