Glad the CBC will still post this stuff, but not impressed the buried it in an “this is just one person’s opinion” disclaimer. If the author bio is to believed, this woman knows what she’s talking about:

So, with the election on the 24th, the ballots already printed, a candidate for the BC Liberal (read right-of-center) Party just pulled a “resigned before he could be fired”, for comparing the BC NDP (read center-left, though those to the right claim “radical leftist”) plan to provide free Birth Control to the Eugenics Movement.

No, dude. Quck primer.

Free Birth Control is about allowing an individual to choose whether to procreate or not. Eugenics is when the state decides that on your behalf.

See the difference?

(One of the things I love about my province is that even in the heavily conservative/religious riding he’s in, it’s still a “resign before you’re fired” moment. In other parts of the country cough Alberta and Saskatchewan cough he might have gotten and with it and it be defended as freeze peach that would gain votes.)
