That was very interesting. I have never seen the second type of Spirograph.
I never got rid of my Spirograph, but 2 wheels have been missing since 1978. Stuck forever in a floor vent at my grandparents place.
Maybe you can replace them with 3D printing?
Oh keep an eye out in thrift stores. There could be another box with different missing pieces.
