Our ex-so-called president

Shocked, so shocked, not really.

Yes. He can’t stand the fact that if we had just the popular vote, he would have lost. It was only the archaic Electoral College that put in him office.

YES!! Where’s the popcorn?!?

Raise your hand if you were not one bit surprised that Trump’s legal counsel is completely criminal.

I can’t decide how much priority to give this one. I know a lot of people in the Twittersphere shout “ableism!” when it comes up. I don’t think it’s entirely fair for them to do that. FDR was by all accounts a decent president from his wheelchair for the first two terms, but perhaps shouldn’t have ran the third time when he was already so ill. If someone is in poor health and has a demanding job, there’s nothing “ableist” about asking (not assuming, just asking) if they are still up to it.

And in Trump’s case… well, he’s never really done the job, has he? Golfing. Rallies. Little to no actual legislation or effective leadership.

And certainly Reagan having Alzheimers – unannounced Alzheimers – in the second half of his presidency had an impact.

If Trump is so ill psychiatrists can spot it from the relative formality of public appearances, wouldn’t that add points to the impeachment case?

I don’t like people using mental illness to exclude people from jobs; however, when your illness precludes you from doing your job properly, I think it’s relevant. FDR didn’t need to walk to serve as president. Not being able to judge reality is a problem for being president.

Personally, I believe that Trump shows a lot of signs of dementia, and therefore, I think he deserves some sympathy for the confusion and even some of the things that he says - as a person. As a citizen of the US, him having power really scares me.

Reasonable accomodation should always be applied to these cases, Is there a way that technology could be used to enable a disabled person to do a job as well as an able bodied person (the mind is a function of the brain and therefore part of the body)?

I do not believe there is any way that Trump (and in the past, Reagan) could use anything to enable themselves to do the job.

Any sympathy I might have had for him is counterbalanced by his awfulness, which goes back decades. It’s impossible to untangle the dementia from the egomania, xenophobia, disdain for justice and appropriateness, and a lifetime of unexamined and unearned privelege on multiple axes.

Dementia or not, what he deserves is to be stripped of his wealth and power, escorted from the Oval Office in handcuffs to spend the rest of his days in a dark hole without internet access.

Fuck this shit.

When I see videos where he is obviously confused, that’s when I feel like, look, it’s mean to make fun of him for that. When he’s like, “Build a wall! Lock her up!” I’m less kind.

That is just revolting. Comic book executives are directing health care???

If the purpose of your government is to “make liberals cry”, then of course you’d mine dystopian literature for “good” ideas.

Yep. I have friends from Mexico that are here legally and they are scared. One of them even named us godparents of their son in case they end up getting deported.

That’s what happens when a poorly written, poorly drawn, third-rate comic book villain becomes POTUS.

that’s a religious office, and not necessarily one that has meaning in a civil context.

well considering this is a “religious” country there shouldn’t be any issues.

Does it give you standing in Family court? If ICE decides to press this issue (la cruauté oblige), would your formalized relationship help to protect the children?

Recall the difficulties of gay and lesbian couples before Obergefell v. Hodges.

I don’t doubt your commitment; but those in power might.
