All I can say is, watch Tucker Carlson’s perverted little speech about “Daddy.”
Remember when all they could come up with about Harris was that they didn’t like her laugh? Anyone who puts Tucker up as a speaker has absolutely no business talking about anyone’s laugh.
What do hemorrhoids and Tucker Carlson have in common? They’re both deeply disturbed assholes.
It’s probably too early if this is new for this election, but I would like to see if that changes people’s perception about third-party candidates. It’s really not going to make a difference until it’s nationwide, though.
Also, is that just for the presidential race, or is there ranked-choice for every election, including local offices? That would make a more immediate difference, I would think. If you have more official information I could take a look at, I’d be interested. For example, how are ties, etc. handled? That’s just as important as ranking, and just as fraught.
It’s only for Portland positions, although there’s a statewide measure to make it RCV for all elected positions in the state. Alaska and somewhere else do RCV for everything. Republicans hate it of course. However, given the number of single-candidate judgeships and Soil and Water Conservation Districts etc. in the county and the state it doesn’t really expand the ballot more than a third or so.
The main issue is that we’re going from a Mayor and a few Council positions to Mayor and 12 Council positions in four districts. That’s a big part of the complication. The ranking is just another axis to deal with. My own district had about a dozen candidates for three positions with the ability to rank up to six candidates. We’ll see how it goes.
fyi
I swear to god, Trump could run around with a shirt on that said “YES, I AM A FASCIST AND I WANT TO BE A DICTATOR” and dipshits like this would still be like… well, he’s not REALLY a fascist, cause see…
There’s a state constitutional amendment on the ballot in Missouri to prohibit ranked-choice voting from ever being adopted here. I’m pretty sure this is because of past petition drives for RCV nearly being successful.
Naturally, the Republicans are pushing for extra support against RCV, by also adding the (completely redundant!) requirement that only US citizens can vote.
Right now I’m so disillusioned with Jill Stein, even if we had RCV in a presidential election I’d put her below Harris, even though I have reservations about Harris.
Yeah, Stein’s got real issues.
RCV is the only way that we’re going to get real challenges for actual third party candidates.
And speaking of people who need to STFU… Hipster scum McInnes needs to do so as well…
Fuck right the fuck off, you edgelord scumbucket…
I think all the stuff with the BB BBS has me angry… or maybe it’s the election that has my blood boiling and this is just adding to the list of things I’m angry about.
If you don’t like a candidate under RCV, don’t rank them at all.
What?! I hope that doesn’t pass
As a Canadian, I’d like to apologize to the US for us exporting that toxic waste to y’all.
Certainly not your fault!
At least… in THIS case.
