Ok this is where I get super embarrassed and admit that while I was always aware of this high falsetto cover, I didn’t know it was Frankie Valli, I always assumed it was Leo Sayer! Embarrassing! :exploding_head:

Awesome.

It’s not a cover, but this song that made me notice how cool a brass section can be. This song is slow and mellow and after the first listen or two, my memory was sure it had a string section. It doesn’t, the brass just felt that way.

That’s because it’s the Black Dyke Mills Band. They also provided the music for the movie Brassed Off, amongst many other things.

My sister has been in brass bands for decades: our stepfather taught trumpet, and she met her husband in one. From what I’ve seen through her, the Brass world’s reaction to the Black Dyke Mills Band is along the lines of

They did a lot of backing work on Boys for Pele. Just another sign of Tori’s superlative musical taste.
