That’s great news!
Ok. They took video of me eating/drinking barium in different thicknesses. The radiologist says my left vocal cord is weaker than the right and when I’m drinking I’m aspirating small amounts of liquid, which could be contributing to my recurring pneumonia issues.
The treatment? Just clear your throat after every couple of sips.
Minor issue but juuust serious enough to affect your health hopefully the recommendation helps. Alternatively i would imagine they could recommend thickened water to avoid the aspiration problems but who tf would enjoy goopy water?
The pulmonologist is trying to fast track a rheumatology referral to UCSD in hopes somebody can just cross the street to come take a look at me while I’m hospitalized regarding the Vasculitis/Churg-Strauss issues. I hope it can happen.
He’s gotten approval for one of these new bio-injectables to help enhance the effects of the symbicort and he says they’ve seen remarkable improvement in other patients. This sounds good to me regarding the asthma symptoms.
So, my food intake is cut off at midnight, but the bronchoscopy procedure isn’t until midday tomorrow. Only sips of water sufficient to keep my mouth wet.
Good luck with the bronchoscopy, and positive health vibes in general!
Good luck with the bronchosopy tormorrow.
And wouldn’t it be great if they can get someone to just come across the street for a consult.
It would at that. Crossing my fingers. My other option is to go all the way to La Mesa, which might as well be on the other side of the moon, and it’s a 1/2 hour walk from the bus stop.
Also, special delivery…
I guess if I get tired walking to La Mesa now at least I can sit and rest.
I was looking at myself in the mirror and realizing that if I had another foot in height I could definitely be Lurch from the Addams Family this Halloween.
Hmmm…maybe Cesare from the Cabinet of Dr. Caligari. He’s a rather gaunt fellow IIRC.
If it comes to it and you need transportation to it let me know, hopefully it wouldn’t be too expensive but i would be willing to send monies to cover a trip
I thank you, but the date is sufficiently far away that I am going to try to get a ride from San Diego’s PACE program. If not, I’ll still go with the MTS, but if you want to cover a short Uber trip from the bus stop and back, it would be appreciated.
In the meantime, I have an insane flea infestation to deal with when I get home and I think I’ll be throwing enough money and effort into dealing with that. The morning I was ordered to go to the hospital I must have crushed about 30 fleas feasting on my legs.
Sounds good, i’ll send ya something via paypal
It occurs to me that someone in this world likely got paid a sufficient amount of money for this print pattern.
The purpose of the design and aesthetics of both patient gowns and scrubs is to keep people from wanting to take them home.
That purpose largely failed for the scrubs…
@knoxblox How are you feeling today? Judging by the previous posts i think you’re feeling a bit more like yourself, though not 100% of course. How’s your appetite?
I AM SO HUNGRY!!
Sadly, I have been NPO (nothing by mouth) since midnight, and the bronchoscopy is not scheduled until 1 pm. So I figure the earliest I’ll be allowed to eat is probably mid-afternoon.
Not even a sip of water.
Not gonna lie…I kind of like that pattern. I’m a plaid flannel dude, and that looks like how Toulouse-Lautrec would’ve captured one of my shirts!
It certainly can raise you blood sugar, among many other nasty side-effects. Usually not to scary levels unless you are diabetic. It increases appetite, can make you really crabby, can result in increased fat deposition in weird places, but with what you describe, it is also somewhat of a miracle drug for controlling symtoms and allowing you to live a normal life. It’s all about trade-offs, and, yeah, i think you are better off dealing with the side-effects, all things considered.
I finally have a picture of what’s going on. The doctor got me into the hospital to get me stable, but also to give me more immediate access to procedures so they can justify to Molina the new bio-injectable they want to prescribe on top of Prednisone – which would be great. The only thing holding me up is getting a rheumatology referral visit, and nobody’s next door at UCSD to come over and check me out. Luckily, I have my referral letter with me, so when I’m discharged I can march over there and get them to schedule me ASAP.
Correction: If approved, I’ll be taking both medications, not replacing the Prednisone.
That sounds good, or at least as good as it gets in this context. Best of luck, and more vibes!
