The last survivor of the Holy Trinity.
Love this obituary. My mom was a WWII US Army nurse, and two years younger than her.
May Maj. Leftenant-Colon rest in peace.
The secrets are gone when you look away. Sleep well: they can still see you; they come ever faster.
This is admittedly conjecture but it’s telling David Lynch’s art is so perverted, horrifying or even horny… Yet his collaborators & even exes overwhelmingly talk about his decency, respect & protectiveness. Like proof you don’t have to be an abusive monster to explore darkness in the human psyche.
My late boss, an expert in spec fiction and a friend and acquaintance of many authors, used to say that the nicest people are horror writers. It’s as if they expel all their negativity onto the written page.
The secrets are not lost but waiting. So look away - the clock ticks on.
It often seems fitting, after some passings, that the world continues on as if nothing had happened.
Once in a while, it seems horribly wrong, almost thoroughly uncivilized.
It is indeed the latter this time.
This morning, the BBC had a telephone interview with Nicolas Cage about David Lynch.
I had assumed Cage would be some weird taciturn recluse who would only give monosyllabic answers. But no. He appears to be a well-adjusted human being who was happy to talk. The interviewer had a hard time getting his questions in.
To summarize the interview — Cage says before making Wild at Heart he was a very serious method actor. Perhaps too serious. Lynch taught him how to have fun while working. In fact Lynch told him that having fun while working was absolutely essential to a successful project.
The curses do not know you. Sleep well. The clock ticks on.
This is astonishingly reassuring.
Here, or the food thread? Hm.
Here: David Lynch on Cooking Quinoa
As cryptic as ever, he does not go into the ingredients’ amounts. Typical… leaving us with questions!
Someone on Food.com posted an estimation of the amounts in their instructions. As I did, one would need to make slight adjustments for personal satisfaction, but I can say that the recipe is addictive. Watch out for the sodium, though.
