Ouch, that hurts. I attended many A’s games in the late 80s/early 90s back in the Bash Brothers heyday.
I always liked Ricky Henderson. He looked so small compared to his steroid boosted Bash Bros teammates, but he could hit hard and he created so much drama around whether or not he’d steal the next base. Good times.
I’m glad to hear he was a decent guy off the field as well. RIP.
Why am I posting this? Because, a long time ago, I knew her. I went to Melbourne High School. She went to MacRobertson Girl’s School: the two schools being independent boys’ and girls’ selective entry state schools, which were originally split off the one school. (Like back in the 1920s IIRC.)
We were in the respective Theatrical Stage Crews, and we worked together backstage for years. I don’t think I’d seen her once since, even though I went to RMIT while she was in the Student Union there.
She was very clear that her name was pronounced An-drey-a.
There’s something wonky with the link.
That one works, ta!
Fuck cancer.

Frank Auerbach died a while back, but the Guardian has a remembrance by his son…
I’m not seeing a lot of sources yet, but it looks like Jimmy Carter may have passed away.
Goodbye to a good man.
It’s probably a good thing that you didn’t have to see what’s becoming of the country in January.
Here’s a Reuters link:

Rest in Peace, Mr. Carter.
He did a lot of good for the world over a long life.
