Well, I remember the Bob Dole thing, but very surprised with the other two items:
Moore wrote the song Dole Man, modelled on Soul Man, for Republican Bob Doleās presidential campaign in 1996. In 2017, he was among the few entertainers who performed for Donald Trumpās inaugural festivities. Eight years earlier, Moore had objected when Democratic presidential candidate Barack Obamaās campaign used the song Hold On, Iām Cominā.
Didnāt he later speak out against Trumpās use of this song? Or am I misremembering. (Either way, wow, wtf.)
Not sure if he changed his mind. Wiki says he sent a C&D to Obama in 2008, but then he also performed at Obamaās inaugural ball.
It goes on:

I just remember the Bob Dole song.
Perhaps he was an institutionalist and admirer of the Executive Branch, but disliked political parties?
Do you suppose trump understood any of that?
Maybe if heād been paying attention. Iād guess he was instead daydreaming about some piping hot KFC. Or maybe a hamberder.
Oh, probably notā¦ Iām sure he just zoned out for much of the eulogies, since thatās likely what he does if itās not about himā¦
Such a shame- I met him a few years ago at the Edinburgh festival- he was getting his life back and starting to perform again after a long time away when his mental health was not great.
Really sad - such a brilliant performer and comedian before it fell apart for him.
Bipolar, and abused by a priest when a kid (which he partly blamed for his mental health problems) - covered sensitively in the documentary āWhatās the matter with Tony Slattery?ā on BBC, but not currently available on iPlayer. It was a searingly honest āno holds barredā programme.
He has been missed and will be even more so, now.
Ahhh, shit. Double very sad day!
So much suckiness going on right nowā¦
I hate this year. It sucks so much.
