Are you also possibly maybe transporting live snakes though, hmm?
My local crows are always stashing food on the roof for later. Usually bagel pieces or crusty bread.
So I was preparing this to reply:
The neighbor on the other side often puts old food out on his lawn for the urban wildlife around here. (It’s actually illegal to do that here in the city. I think he’s been reprimanded for “ground feeding of animals”.) I’m not sure where the food comes from—possibly things from the food shelf that he doesn’t want or doesn’t know what to do with. A few months ago there were four full heads of cabbage—both green and red—sitting randomly on the ground in his backyard. It looked like he had been bowling or something with the cabbages. Once there was a whole raw turkey (the kind that come frozen, ready to cook) in his yard. I often see food in weird places all over the block. A half-eaten raw potato under our front bushes. A few half-eaten hot dog buns in our backyard. A partially-nibbled tomato lying in someone’s flower garden. A random raw carrot on the sidewalk down the street. The squirrels are enterprising and do their best to carry off the food, but sometimes they are no match for the larger items.
Btw that piece of pizza is still on the roof, but has since slid down about six inches to the next lower tier of shingles. I’d love to know whether the squirrel simply lost its grip on it and then got distracted and ran off, or did it decide that it wasn’t really worth it. Everyone’s got their own favorite style of pizza, after all.
AND RIGHT THEN I noticed that the squirrel had come back and was eating it! (or was it a different, random squirrel that found it and perhaps was jubilant at the discovery?) Then it ran off with what was left.
I had fully expected to watch that piece of pizza sitting on that roof, deteriorating, for the rest of the winter and into spring. Silly me. Never underestimate the appetite of a squirrel.
Pizza Squirrel!
I put molding fruit or veg outside, we’re pretty far from the neighbors, but the butterflies, bees and assorted bugs and birds enjoy. I let a half watermelon go too long in the fridge, but it was eaten down to the rind by some local wildlife over the course of a week or so.
I haven’t seen a squirrel in years, though, too many cats, I guess.
Sing us a song, you’re the carrot man
Sing us a song tonight
For we’re all in the mood for some root veg’tables
And orange carrots are tasty, alright!
oh, la de dee, did ah dee dah…ahh
“and the waitress is a practicing vegan
as the businessman orders the veal.
and she want to put a fork in his eye,
that’s something that carrots won’t heal…”
I had some customers from Finland in town this week. One of them wanted to buy a MAGA hat to bring home as a gift (he said). I told him he was about 50 miles too far North or South.
I hope as you told him that, you gave him a meaningful look…
Oh I was quite direct and unambiguous about my feelings
I guess this is the most appropriate thread?
my standard opening guesses yielded this a couple days ago
Not sure what you’re pointing out here?
And why wouldn’t you use P and U in the third guess?
I think it’s that the correct letters in two separate guesses themselves spell out a word the answer. (PLUMB)
I started the thread as a photos topic, much like “If you see it, post it” on the old place. But it’s diverged it seems.
It’s actually a pretty common wordle strategy. Basically you are trying to get as many useable letters as you can in the first couple guesses.
Funnily enough since TOP place ive barely played wordle anymore. The NYT already took away my ability to keep track of streaks and such, and without another community playing I couldnt be arsed to play anymore.
