So who do we elect this year?

As a practical matter, the move means that the full report will almost certainly not be made available before the 2020 election, if at all. In May, the court blocked release of the report while the appeal moved forward.
The court will probably hear arguments in the case in the late fall, after the election, and issue its decision next year.

I suppose that if Trump manages to remain in the whitehouse past January 2021, there will be arguments about how it’s all moot, even if it it would have been horribly,. horribly damaging.

Where is Daniel Ellsberg when we need him?

Great, so Biden and Sanders can split the opposition, and Trump can ride to victory.

Exactly. It’s not even possible to make sense of it anymore. It’s just (gestures wildly) 2020. It’ll find a way to bite us, whatever that takes. Even if that’s Republicans supporting Democrats or social media supporting 3rd parties.

It’s a sign of 2020 when you can’t tell whether something belongs in the ‘who do we elect’ thread or the ‘dumbest thing I ever heard’ thread.

It is the year for “the dumbest thing we can think of”. Or 2007?

This actually isn’t a horrific platform. I look forward to seeing them backpedal from it.

Y’know, we really need to disable the corporate sponsorship of government before more than two parties are actually recognized in this country. And that sponsorship, as carried forth by the media, is of course going to take any party that isn’t D or R and make them appear to be radical loonies by choosing examples of extremists from those parties to show off to the public. Until we get a major corporation to come out behind the Greens or the Libertarians or the Pastafarians, et al, we are stuck with Biden or Trump, and any future D or R candidates.

I say, take the corporate sponsorship, USE IT as the corporations have used the people, and turn around and dismantle the corporation, using its own resources.

David Koch only ran for vice, though. And this was before a series of supreme court decisons on campaign finance law.
