So who do we elect this year?

Thank you SO much! I had no clue who the “bad guys” were supposed to be re the comic characters. And you missed NOTHING with Mike Pence; there’s just no Marvel villain in a costume that fits him, I guess. And that was Eric as Batman; DJTjr shows up as Superman in the very last version. And the Chitauri (whoever they are) gorilla reminds me of this character, only beefed up (this is a chimp in a suit, btw):

But I thought AOC was Gamora? They brought back Mantis? No Moondragon? (from the old “Celestial Madonna” story arc in the comic books.). And they keep changing the names of everything; is Rescue really War Machine? Oh well, I really do appreciate what you did.

Definitely Mantis. You can see her antennae if you look closely. These videos were created from footage from the MCU movies. Definitely Endgame, and possibly some from Infinity War. Due to spoiler reasons, Gamora wasn’t with the rest of the Guardians in that scene. Rescue is the armor that Tony Stark creates for Pepper Potts. War Machine is also in the movie, but not featured in the Colbert videos.

In a heroic(ahem) effort to bring this back on topic, it doesn’t seem to me that they spent much thought in matching up the political figures with their MCU counterparts.

Back off topic:
There may (currently)be 23 MCU movies, but it really is remarkable to watch them from beginning to end(game).

We need a Hulk that isn’t fucking Bloomberg.

I know. Thank goodness he’s not the Democratic candidate, though.

I don’t even want to think about it. I feel powerless to do anything.

I’m right there, myself. <3

Planning on early in-person voting later this month. I live a couple miles from the place, so shouldn’t be too hard.

i’m thinking i’m going to volunteer to work a polling location. being that i’m younger than most poll workers i see, who are retired, and i’m more tech savvy and post-covid, it just seems like a good thing to do. i am betting they need poll workers everywhere, so if you feel you can be safe and do it, i think everyone should look into it. this year is so important.

You’re great. I hope you are (and remain) immune to it!

just feeling that i should step up, particularly because i’m in a perfect situation to do so. my county has reported the first documented case in the nation (apparently!) of someone getting covid a second time, though, so … yikes.

Yikes is right. Don’t be the second.

It’s nice to hear that accent being used by someone saying something intelligent. As opposed to, say, an average Ray Stevens record.

So there’s a deadline to register to register to vote for the primaries (you have to register for them to send you the paperwork to register) and I missed it this year. But there’s still time to register to register to vote in the actual election, so that’s another thing I need to do during my busy day tomorrow.

I wish they didn’t make it so complicated - other countries auto-register everyone (or don’t even have that concept) and other states just send the ballots out to everyone. I can only see the excessive bureaucracy as intended to discourage/suppress voters, and the low turnout that everyone complains about as a direct symptom of that.

Also I found out there’s a not-entirely-secret but certainly not obvious backdoor that you have to go to at the clerk’s office for this stuff - you can’t just go in through the front like you would for anything else. Some people had been turned away by the front office without explanation and complained and that was when it became non-secret.

On the bright side, I don’t think that’ll last two more generations because kids these days are not ok with that nonsense.
