I thought that was Ryan Reynolds at first.
McConnell needs to GO, that rat-bastard.
Just a reminder for anyone you might know planning to vote with a mail-in ballot: at this point, it’s best to find an official drop-off point rather than mailing.
i made these signs for my front yard. (Not my idea – but it was too good to not replicate) it’s a total photoshop job – Divine was never at a party with Donald & Ivana Trump – but the sentiment was too great to pass up (Divine knows shit when she smells it!) i was hoping my neighbors would be in on the joke, but so far they have all just asked me who that is on my sign. when i tell them, i just get blank looks, sigh.
It’s like a political Rorschach test.
As you may recall, last week I ordered a couple Joe-based campaign items. Just trying to drum-up a little excitement. I waited anxiously for their arrival.
Yesterday I got an email happily announcing that my order has only just now been shipped. This slow service is only acceptable if Joe himself is fulfilling these orders in a warehouse personally!
The one thing I don’t get about folks who support the current POTUS is that he has no pets. And his base is big on canines.
I mean, I already voted for the guy, but having two dogs in his family makes me like him as a human being, you know?
Last week, I got a letter from our county clerk that they had a lot of interest, and I would be considered an alternate in case other folks were not well.
Today, I got a call from someone in the county clerk’s office, and they asked if I could be a poll worker / election judge. I guess they were having trouble finding people willing to be “democratic” poll workers, versus “republican” ones. She asked, as if I might take offense, if I wouldn’t mind being a democrat for the day. LOL, so much LOL, but I don’t really advertise my politics, so it’s a fair question in trump country.
So, yay, it’s a long day from 5 am to 7 pm, but I’m pretty excited! The good news is that it is at my own polling place, so it won’t be a problem for me to also vote on that day.
What is a Democratic or Republican poll worker?
I think the position is Democrat or Republican Election Judge, and they want to have equal numbers of each for fairness if there is any kind of dispute…I think? I haven’t gone through the training, but I do have the info to do it this evening. I should understand it better once I’ve gone through the materials.
Could make the “democrat for the day” question a little… questionable.
Yeah, if someone was truly a loyal republican it might get tricky, but I’m really not. I dislike both parties, for a variety of reasons, though I tend to vote for more democrats, because they are generally less likely to wholesale dismiss the humanity of some groups of people.
I’d hope that anyone wanting to be a poll worker would want to be meticulously fair, but that might be naive of me.
Definitely not meaning anything towards you.
It’s just that political leanings are something that’s pretty close to impossible to verify to start with, so you sort of have to go with what someone tells you. Given that, it makes the question seem rather leading, and in the interest of fairness I would worry about someone who’s against either one of the parties for whatever reason getting a similar question about the party they’re against.
Sadly, things do occasionally happen.
Oh, I know, no worries.
If a person was of a mind to fuck around with elections, then being a poll worker would definitely be a way of attempting it.
These college students drove 27 hours to make sure their vote would count!
Anticipating the ratfucking is nerve-jangley.
