Extraterrestrial life may look nothing like life on Earth β so astrobiologists are coming up with a framework to study how complex systems evolve
Really good summary of βJWST falsifies dark matterβ headlines. Dr. Becky is an excellent communicator of complex concepts.
Ok, I guess that means theyβre still doing something, but the company hasnβt actually flung anything with their test launcher in over 2 years now and the maximum height achieved in their test launches was only 30,000 ft., which is less than the cruising altitude of a commercial jet. So weβll see if this actually goes anywhere or not.
Iβve read that large centrifuges can be used to speed up brewing, distillation, and filtration processes for certain beverages. So maybe someone will buy out the company and put their equipment to good use. Space-age beer!
Maybe one of those companies that already brew beer with hops that have been in space?
Just make sure youβve got the right equipment:
It may seem like a waste but thatβs nothing compared to sticking with a flawed design due to the sunk cost fallacy. Abandoning that design was probably one of the best decisions that the Russians made over the history of their space program. As a child of the 1980s it pains me to say this, but we Americans stubbornly proved over the decades the Shuttle was never as fast, cheap or safe as the more traditional space capsule designs. And the Russians proved that you can build a big modular space station without a shuttle and manipulator arm.
So I strongly disagree with the opening paragraph of that article.
The Russians were successful in not killing two Shuttle crews due to hubris and a commitment to a flawed design.
I blame Richard Nixon.
