No wonder I feel lightheaded.
It’s time for the Perseids. You should go someplace dark and watch the night sky if you can.
when i was growing up in a very rural part of Texas, papi would host a Perseids viewing barbecue and all his musician buddies would come spend the weekend. we would barbecue a goat that had been raised just for the occasion, there would be a keg or two of Lone Star, and people (like, lots of people) would be out in the yard all night looking at the sky. we kids would lie on the roof of the barn and watch. it was always a big show, both in the sky and on the ground, and music being played for three days.
i don’t miss a thing about texass, but i do recall fondly this event.
A nice thing about the stars is that they are a reminder that there is light and high beauty forever beyond the reach of shadow…until you see Elon Musk’s god damn vanity constellation cut across the sky and then you want to burn everything to ashes. But anyway the Perseids are pretty neat.
I can only hope meteors will obliterate his dumb satellites. But yes, Perseids!
Go, Rocketdyne! (Upper stage… anyway.)
Almost full Moon for tonight and tomorrow will make good observation very challenging.
OK, who’s been playing with the moon’s transparency setting? Kids? You put that back where it was. Don’t make me come down there!
