Speaking of Faith: discussions on religion (broadly defined)

Ah, I see. So now we’re going to engage in an egregious pattern of targeting peaceful non-Christians, while ignoring violent, pro-Christian offenses

I’ve read that most of churches attacked in US were churches of black communities. I think this administration finally will address the cases of racism.

(With ‘Christian’ defined increasingly strictly, and by extension ‘non-Christian’ becoming more and more inclusive over time, of course. First it’s “pagans” and “heathens”. Then it’s atheists and Jews. Then it’s Unitarians. Then it’s Catholics.)

I was talking to a Jewish colleague, who thought that it was a coincidence that Passover and Easter are around the same time; she was unaware that the Last Supper was a Passover seder.

That, at least, is understandable. But the number of Christians who apparently have no clue Easter is related to Passover is alarming!

And it’s on the same day, this year - most of the time, Easter (and Palm Sunday) are one week later in Eastern Christianity. (Last year they were like 5 or 6 weeks apart.)

I didn’t know until well into adulthood (then read how “Pascha” is derived from “Pesach”)

That’s why it’s always baffled me that so many American Christians support the death penalty. WWJD?

Well, obviously the execution of Jesus was a bad thing because he’s one of us, somehow or other. But that’s a very different question from executing one of them. The central principle of conservatism is that the two have nothing to do with each other. :face_exhaling:

Stumbled onto this yesterday through Reddit, it’s been on my mind since so partially sharing it here. I must also add that this is not me passing judgement on any religion or beliefs, i just found the comic to be thought provoking.
