Speaking of Faith: discussions on religion (broadly defined)

those are all lovely notions for a “christian nation” to achieve. sure.
can you think of a single example in our world today?
and why, specifically, a “christian nation”? why not a secular socialist society? couldn’t people just be nice to each other for a fking change?
(not directed at you, personally.)

I think this is more intended to call people who claim to be Christians and ignore all the teachings of christ.

Absolutely agree.

Would love that.

I guess if believing in a magical abilities of resurrection of man who died over 2000 years ago helps others to get to a kinder place, then that’s great. Whatever people need to get to the place to help us all make a better world and embrace our shared, common humanity…

i am not really qualified to elaborate more than the very simple idea that you did, I did, WE did.
…“In the beginning, Man created God

was it good?

It’s God-Man all the way down.

Or up, as the case may be.

Anybody who had “narco-pentecostals” on their 2025 bingo card, can I be your friend? You clearly have greater insight than I.

You know what’s interesting? Brazilian evangelical leaders love to hear the sound of their own voices and make statements on all the issues that affect Brazilians and the government: Abortion, weapons, politics, diplomacy… They have opinions on everything. But these attacks on other religions, pedophilia in churches, organized crime… They have never said a single word about these issues…

Sounds like American evangelicals, honestly.

These people invented Christian paganism. And the media, that usually give them a free platform to spread their ideology, never asked them anything about these issues.

Apparently most Mormons believe in an infinite regression of G-ds.

People make fun of the humans becoming gods and ruling their own planets thing, but honestly I like it as an idea. I mean, not all the details like the thing with multiple wives being forever subordinate.

But in most religions nothing about you really matters after you die. You’re given a score that decides whether you get a good or bad game over screen, or you get reincarnated with all your identities and memories wiped. Either way all the things you loved and learned and all the details of your personality are just kind of irrelevant.

The idea that instead you take all that and apply it at the next level sounds so much better to me. Which is not to say I think it’s at all true, and it sounds silly when they say “planet”. But if they had said “world” I don’t think it would be any more unreasonable than any of the other possibilities people have supposed.
