I don’t disagree with the sentiment behind this idea, but I fear very much how it will be used. I picture using it to silence those who would object to the societal abuse of women, minorities, LGBTQ+, etc. All the while, encouraging the “polite” TERFS, fascists and racists to go ahead and promote their hatred as long as it is in a calm and polite way. “It’s fine to promote genocide, as long as you do it nicely.” Promoting science makes the creationists feel bad, can’t do that. Talking about women’s issues is upsetting to the men, so that’s out. Etc, etc, etc. Yeah, nice idea, but I hate it.
Let’s just say, it’s not surprising to me that Indiana is one of the 5 states currently on board with this.

Trump DHS blocks Harvard’s ability to enroll international students
The Trump administration told Harvard University on Thursday it no longer would be allowed to enroll international students, a significant escalation in President Trump’s war against the university.
Kristi Noem, the head of the Department of Homeland Security (DHS), ordered Harvard to be taken off the Student and Exchange Visitor Program certification.
Along with not allowing new foreign students, the DHS said the thousands of current foreign-born students at Harvard “must transfer or lose their legal status.”
“This administration is holding Harvard accountable for fostering violence, antisemitism, and coordinating with the Chinese Communist Party on its campus,” Noem said. “It is a privilege, not a right, for universities to enroll foreign students and benefit from their higher tuition payments to help pad their multibillion-dollar endowments.

The University at Buffalo wrote in a statement on Wednesday that its graduation ceremony rules dictate that only the student accepting a diploma is allowed to walk across the stage. The school said that although Al Arab had broken the rules, he would not be penalized and his diploma still issued as expected.
