Well, he would, wouldn’t he.
Item on Newsnight last night saying ‘some are even calling for the return of the Shah’s son’, to which I commented ‘they mean HE is calling for it’.

Probably not in a SCIF, if history of this regime is any predictor.
The company controlled by the president’s children promises to sell the device for $499, a goal that’s not feasible with the current infrastructure
I saw that in an interview, Eric Trump slipped up and said “eventually all the phones can be built in the United States of America.” “Can be” not even “will be” - that sounds more aspirational than a promise for US-made phones, but at the very least it rather admits that they initially won’t be. (And I suspect that after the “initial” period, the company will simply shut down.)
There is a made-in-USA phone, the absurd “Liberty Phone” that costs over $2000 and has the specs of a phone 1/10 the price and half the thickness. (Many of the parts and materials come from outside the US, however.) At best a “US made” Trump phone would be Chinese components assembled in the US for at least twice the stated price. (Though clearly, at the given price, they’re going to be selling a $200 Chinese-made phone and pocketing the difference.)
It’s a Potemkin cabinet.
And some people in the US, presumably. Which is worse.
Because that worked so well the last time the US deposed a democratically elected government and reinstalled the Shah.
What in the fucketing fuck.
A senator handcuffed, people snatched in public, military deployed – Trump’s slide to authoritarianism has come quicker than critics feared
I’m so tired of this coverage. Since Monday there has been breathless news coverage on CNN and other outlets awaiting his “decision”. Trump isn’t a deep thinker. He acts on impulse and his twisted instinct. He isn’t thoughtfully deliberating anything. If he really wanted to do something decisive he would have just done it already. That’s always been his MO — break shit now and let everybody else pick up the pieces while he moves on to the next shiny object that he can vandalize.
I know he isn’t a smart man, but I also think he’s self aware enough to realize that he doesn’t really have any good options here (and that he’s a big part of why we’re here right now). The only reason he’s not doing anything other than writing salty posts on his stupid website is because he hopes it’ll work itself out without him having to do anything. That way he can go back to the things he enjoys such as wrecking the lives of immigrants and trans people, and profiting from his various grifts.
What’s scary is that there is a distinct possibility that just threatening and acting tough without actually doing anything will get him through this disconnect with his base. It’s worked for him before.
As much as I would like to think that something could be an issue that causes a meaningful schism between T**** and MAGA, I think that’s probably wishful thinking.
It’s better to continue to apply pressure in public protest, political resistance, and the courts than hold our breath that the fascists will self-destruct.
could be declared apples and oranges, but if the staff of Dodgers’ stadium can keep out the masked goons, one might presume that a whole lot of other institutions could do so as well (and/or any @#!n local police force!)
ICE agents denied entry to Dodger Stadium parking lot, team says

A line of unmarked white vans and SUVs at Dodger Stadium sparked a wave of speculation online about immigration enforcement at the stadium Thursday, but team officials say the agents were denied entry.
In photos posted on social media, the vehicles appeared to be staging near the downtown parking lot entrance to the stadium, which was empty Thursday morning except for a small contingent of local media.
Images of the government vehicles immediately played out on social media and fueled speculation about their activities. The agents declined to say why they were at the stadium when asked by a Times reporter.
According to a statement by the team, the agents were denied entry to the Dodger Stadium grounds when they attempted to enter the parking lots.
“This morning, ICE agents came to Dodger Stadium and requested permission to access the parking lots. They were denied entry to the grounds by the organization. Tonight’s game will be played as scheduled,” the statement said.
The agents were at the location only briefly, the Department of Homeland Security said in a statement. …
