I am a Little confused. Could the senate kill this Bill?
As far as I know - They could. But that seems unlikely. They might use reconciliation to change it significantly.
What they could do is make enough changes that it becomes unpalatable to either the House or T****. If the House doesn’t agree with the changes, then it doesn’t pass until they can come to terms. And even then, if it’s been changed such that T**** vetoes it, then it all starts over. There are so many poison pills they could put in it that would make Big Baby veto it. Something as simple as asserting that the name of the body of water south of Louisiana is the Gulf of Mexico would be pretty much guaranteed to cause a veto, even if it has everything else in it.
We’re all frankly better off with a series of CRs than with this bill. As bad as the CR budget is, it’s vastly better than what’s in the Big Billionaires Bill in every single way.
Welp, there you go.
How long before we get one of these pointed at marge?
Congressman Thomas Massie of Kentucky is not MAGA, even though he likes to say he is. Actually, MAGA doesn’t want him, doesn’t know him, and doesn’t respect him. He is a negative force who almost always Votes “NO,” no matter how good something may be. He’s a simple minded “grandstander” who thinks it’s good politics for Iran to have the highest level Nuclear weapon, while at the same time yelling “DEATH TO AMERICA” at every chance they get. Iran has killed and maimed thousands of Americans, and even took over the American Embassy in Tehran under the Carter Administration. We had a spectacular military success yesterday, taking the “bomb” right out of their hands (and they would use it if they could!) but, as usual, and despite all of the praise and accolades received, this “lightweight” Congressman is against what was so brilliantly achieved last night in Iran. Massie is weak, ineffective, and votes “NO” on virtually everything put before him (Rand Paul, Jr.), no matter how good something may be. He is disrespectful to our great military, and all that they stand for, not even acknowledging their brilliance and bravery in yesterday’s attack, which was a total and complete WIN. Massie should drop his fake act and start putting America First, but he doesn’t know how to get there — he doesn’t have a clue! He’ll undoubtedly vote against the Great, Big, Beautiful Bill, even though non-passage means a 68% Tax Increase for everybody, and many things far worse than that. MAGA should drop this pathetic LOSER, Tom Massie, like the plague! The good news is that we will have a wonderful American Patriot running against him in the Republican Primary, and I’ll be out in Kentucky campaigning really hard. MAGA is not about lazy, grandstanding, nonproductive politicians, of which Thomas Massie is definitely one. Thank you to our incredible military for the AMAZING job they did last night. It was really SPECIAL!!! MAKE AMERICA GREAT AGAIN.
They hate facts. It’s a “kill the messenger” kind of thing.
“So much win!”
Exactly, for petro-investors.
I wasn’t sure if you meant “Silicon Valley” (i.e. the tech industry, with the “fake it until you make it” approach) or “Silicone Valley,” which is what San Fernando Valley is sometimes known as in the context of all the pornographic movies shot there (because of the use of silicone in breast implants), because both really work in this situation. The presidency really is aligned with the worst aspects of the tech industry, and it’s also a superficial, highly artificial, simulation of a real presidency that’s currently fucking (over) a whole lot of people.
Truly, it is the Silicon(e) Valley presidency.
@RAvery
I wonder if Trump will end up being known as the guy who made sure Iran ended up with nukes… where either they develop the tech themselves, or one of their nuclear-armed allies gives them some.
I just saw this, from Dmitry Medvedev, Russia’s former President/PM:
You know things are bad when the Russian propaganda about the US is just facts…
Of course it never works the other way around. The US is free to bomb the living daylights out of the rest of the world, but do something on American soil? OUTRAGE! Still, it would be … something… if they set off a small dirty bomb at Mar a Lago.
That really is the quote for this administration.
In this case, too stupid to understand what was stupid about the Iraq war and doing something (at least) twice as idiotic. I feel like it’s a record for Trump (and his whole administration).
“It’s not okay to be an adult and fall for the exact same war propaganda they used in Iraq. It’s just not.”
And it’s not even the same propaganda - it’s so much stupider. We’re not just failing to learn from history. We’re gone from “here’s questionable intelligence” to “forget the intelligence.” Everyone is actively comparing this to the Iraq war, acknowledging what a terrible idea it was, and then not even bothering to explain why this isn’t a much, much worse idea.
Gosh, that thing he promised he would reduce in price?! (Groceries have been going up, but I don’t see a lot of discussion in the press about that…) It was almost comical how Trump promised to reduce the prices of various things/have certain economic influences, and economists said, “Actually, the president has very little influence over those things.” As Trump promised policies that would do the opposite of what he promised. Then Trump, unsurprisingly, made everything worse, and economists had to clarify, “We meant influence in the other direction. Though who knew one man could fuck things up this badly?”
They went into it acknowledging that conventional “bunker busters” wouldn’t be sufficient to penetrate down to the depth of the deepest facilities, even assuming the Iranians left everything in there, knowing they were likely to be bombed. (And all that is separate from the issue of the impact of the bombing on Iran itself and how this is likely strengthening their intentions.) At this point, I’m not even sure what was supposed to be “successful” about it.
Yeah, but autocorrect made it so much better…
Weird, they all said it was a one and done with no other escalation.
“I encourage the Chinese government in Beijing to call them about that, because they heavily depend on the Straits of Hormuz for their oil,” Rubio said in an interview on Fox News. China is Iran’s most important oil customer and maintains friendly relations with the Islamic Republic.
“It would hurt other countries’ economies a lot worse than ours,” Rubio told Fox News. “It would be, I think, a massive escalation that would merit a response, not just by us, but from others.”
Here is some interesting analysis about the manosphere’s discourse on foreign policy, before and after the strikes in Iran…
I just hope at the end of all this fucking strife we’re all being put through, these assholes all manage to fuck off to somewhere that lacks any influence over anything of import… the whole lot of them should be gone… with probably a goodly number of them serving time… that really is the only just solution to the shit they are doing to our world.
If that has to come via them going after each other and tearing their entire edifice apart, I’m okay with that.
MAKE IRAN GREAT AGAIN
One thing about Trump, when he finds something that works to his benefit in one specific situation… he is guaranteed to run it into the f*cking ground trying to make it work in every possible other situation after that.
OMG, can this timeline get any dumber.
